Freelance Editing Services

Proofreading/Copyediting:

• Includes corrections of typographical errors, misspelled words, incorrect word usage, grammatical programs, punctuation mistakes, inconsistent format, inconsistent verb tenses, spacing errors, and incorrect sequences.
• Fee for manuscripts is .015 per word.
• A deposit of 50% is required to initiate the project; remaining balance will be invoiced upon the completion of project.

Content/Developmental/Substantive Editing:

• Includes services listed in “Proofreading/Copyediting.”
• Also includes correcting of conceptual problems and changes in tone; identifying problems with clarity and accuracy; identifying gaps in content; suggesting rewrites; proposing additions or deletions of text; checking for readability, accuracy of facts, inconsistencies, marketability, structural errors, redundancies, presentation, effectiveness, word/chapter flow, awkward wording/sentencing; reviewing facts and permissions of copyrighted material.
• Fee for manuscripts is .03 per word.
• A deposit of 50% is required to initiate the project; remaining balance will be invoiced upon the completion of project.

Quick Critique:

• Includes a review of manuscript to access readiness and marketability of your project, with specific comments about problems and assets of the concept/idea and manuscript.
• Action steps and recommended resources will be given.
• Fee includes a 1-hour consultation session.
• This critique allows us to determine if a client/consultant relationship would be beneficial in moving forward with the completion of the manuscript and your publishing goals. (See “Consulting” for more info.)
• Fee for first 50 pages/12,000 words of manuscript is $300.
• A deposit of 50% is required to initiate the project; remaining balance will be invoiced upon the completion of project.

Proposal Proofread:

• Includes a review and complete edit of a book proposal (fiction or
  non-fiction).
• Fee includes a 1/2-hour consultation session.
• Fee for 30-page proposal is $200 (additional pages are an additional fee).
• A deposit of 50% is required to initiate the project; remaining balance will be invoiced upon the completion of project.
